Phant-astic Event Planning

–

October 31 is my favorite day of the year. It melds candy, costumes, ghouls and horror all into one fabulous evening. I celebrate Halloween every year with a big costume party for all my friends and family. October 31 may be my favorite day, but I start planning months before.

Costume selection and crafting begin at least in August, and decoration buying starts the end of September, if I can restrain myself for that long. Actual decorating commences promptly on October 1. I have to design invitations that get texted to the invite list.

The actual day of the party, I have to rearrange furniture, order food and drinks – basically, it’s the whole shebang. Planning is so much fun, but you can get burned out by the end of October. Then October 31 rolls around, and it is always worth it. I love seeing all the fun costumes my friends have put together, play fun Halloween-inspired games and enjoy some spooky treats. The day after, I already can’t wait for next year’s party.

Public relations is synonymous with media relations, but really the industry is a jack-of-all-trades. And that’s right, we do party planning. PR professionals are instrumental in helping a client secure a venue, develop an invitation list and design and send out custom invitations. We help reach guests through word of mouth, digital and physical avenues.

We are with a client every step of the way to help secure local dignitaries, as needed or choose fun display pieces for a lobby or table. Need a contact for chairs, catering or audiovisual and don’t know who to talk to? That’s right, your friendly PR professional has all of them and more on speed dial – they might just be able to get you a deal too!

Once you have planned your party with a public relations team, you can sit back and relax on the big day. We are there on site to coordinate guests, vendors, technology and any other last minute details that might pop up on the day of.

The holidays are fast approaching, and that means parties. If you need a dedicated, experienced team by your side to help plan, remember the letters “P” and “R.” We can make your event a success. I know I use the same skills every year for Halloween, and each year it’s a bigger and better success. Happy Halloween and happy party planning!
