Study Tips for Summer classes

Carly Herbert –

As a student, it is easy to feel like you have 100 things to do and not enough time in the day to get everything done. It’s especially hard in the summer when you see everybody outside while you're stuck inside taking summer classes. It is important to know how to manage your time so you can accomplish your tasks, while also leaving some time for yourself to relax. These study tips will guide you on how to study efficiently.

1. Have a planner/calendar: By taking a few minutes out of your day to write down all your deadlines you will be able to keep track of when you need to turn assignments in. This will help prioritize what you need to accomplish first, then from there, you can set time aside for yourself to enjoy.

2. Remove distractions: Turn off your phone or put it in do-not-disturb mode. In the summer, it is easy to get distracted by going on social media and seeing people on vacations so by putting your phone away you will focus more without being tempted.

3. Sleep: It is essential to be well-rested the night before a test. Staying up all night trying to cram all the information in is not the way to do it. Study your notes before you go to sleep and some in the morning, but make sure you get a significant amount of sleep that way your brain is alert when taking the test.

4. Form a study group: Being around people with the same goals as you will help you stay motivated and focus on your assignments. By having a study group, you will be able to learn from each other and test each other's knowledge about the topic. This can make studying a lot more enjoyable and a great way to meet people.
