Perplexed by pixels?

Gilles Weingart – Assistant Creative Director

Let’s talk pixels. If you’ve ever been asked for digital images, you might have heard the terms image size and resolution.

Image size is the width and height of an image in a unit of measurement like pixels or inches. The resolution is the number of pixels in a 1 inch x 1 inch area, called dots per inch (dpi).

An image that is 100 inches x 100 inches at 1 dpi has the same number of pixels as one that is 1 inch x 1 inch at 100 dpi. It’s important to know they are different but work together.
