Top 3 movies to watch that inspire

Kristen Fine – Assistant Account Executive

During a time where working from home is our new normal, it’s easy to get lost in trying to create a comfortable working environment and get tangible tasks crossed off your to-do list. Whether you’re trying to focus while having your favorite show on or balancing the kids, let’s face it — it’s all difficult. To help you get through these times, here are a few movies that are made to inspire and motivate you and your workflow and that just might light a fire inside you.

Unstoppable
This documentary follows the rising tide of Bethany Hamilton who lost her arm in a shark attack in 2003 while surfing on the coast of Maui just as she was making waves in pro surfing, landing a sponsorship by Rip Curl and finally grasping her personal life, all at just 13-years-old. While setting new goals and rolling with the hardships of losing a limb, Bethany begins a new chapter in her life and still manages to accomplish all her dreams.

The Theory of Everything
Set in the 1960s, Cambridge University student and future physicist Stephen Hawking (Eddie Redmayne) falls in love with fellow collegian Jane Wilde (Felicity Jones). At 21, Hawking learns that he has a motor neuron disease. Despite this obstacle -- and with Jane at his side -- he begins an ambitious study of time, of which he has very little left. This movie defies one obstacle and leads Stephen to find his greatest success.

The Pursuit of Happiness
This is an old favorite of mine to rewatch. This movie reminds us that life can be a struggle sometimes, especially for single father Chris Gardner (Will Smith). Evicted from their apartment, he and his young son (Jaden Christopher Syre Smith) find themselves alone with no place to go and no steady income for them to rely on. Even though Chris eventually lands a job as an intern at a prestigious brokerage firm, the position pays no money, just experience. The pair must live in shelters and endure many hardships, but Chris refuses to give up as he struggles to create a better life for himself and his son.

While working on that huge project or needing to take a brain break and gain some new perspective rather than scrolling for hours on social media, crack open Netflix and watch one of these amazing movies that might help give you the right perspective you needed.
